Grieving Brother's Tribute To Hit-And-Run Boy

Grieving Brother's Tribute To Hit-And-Run Boy

Jack wightman, 12, is left behind since his little brother was killed by a hit-and-run. He left a handwritten note, flowers and a green toy at the scene. He visited the scene twice in an hour trying to sort out what happened. The driver was spotted on CCTV camera, and the police have a description of the man. Locals criticise motorist for driving too fast and ignoring the speed signs. Owen's family hopes the man gives himself up to the police so they can give it a little more rest.

Contrast

I don't understand how someone can hit a little boy and just drive away after checking damage to the car. You have to be a psychopath to be able to live with this. It's so sad that this older brother now has to grow up without his brother. I hope the police posts the CCTV footage of the car online, so the man can be taken in, and sentenced for his horrible crime. Jack seems like a brave good brother to his little brother and I wish him and the rest of his family all the best and the strength they definitely need now!

Cheryl Cole's family beg her not to get back together with Ashley

Cheryl Cole's family beg her not to get back together with Ashley

Cheryl Tweedy (Cole), since she was divorced from her husband, after the entire world was shocked about Ashley cheating on her, is now again having contact with Ashley. Family and friends are worried she will eventually become friends with Ashley, or worse, fall in love with him. They are afraid he will break her heart again. Cheryl's mother, Joan is also furious with Cheryl's ex Derek Hough, since he broke up with her during a difficult period in her life which now results in Cheryl once again seeking comfort at Ashley.

Cheryl don't!

Once a cheat, always a cheat. I hope she doesn't get together with that high libido soccer player again. He will cheat on her again, and break her heart again. Cheryl is such a sweet person and always so honest, but I think also a little bit naive and unstable. She is considered one of the most gorgeous people in the world and loved by everyone in the UK, and me! But still wants that unfaithful ex-husband of hers back. I hope their 2D conversations through texting result in misunderstanding, and heated up arguments which results in them not seeing each other any more!

Brutal teens' luxury home

Brutal teens' luxury home

While schools are being cut on budgets, young murderers and rapist aged up to sixteen will soon live in luxury. Their new fourteen million jail facility is like a five star hotel, swimming pool included. They will also have their own juice bar, and a gym. They will even have a variety of gaming consoles such as x boxes to use. And if they don't feel like sitting behind a screen, they can play soccer on their all weather surface field. One victims' group spokesman said: "It would cost decent families thousands for all of this, but these kids will get it for free. It sends out completely the wrong message."

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3649839/Brutal-teens-luxury-home.html

Outrageous

I Think it's outrageous that these brutal kids get to enjoy all the luxury they want, while in the meantime families are struggling to keep their kids in school. Schools are being cut on budget's and these kids are being rewarded for raping and murdering. I mean, a swimming pool, gym, juice bar, a better sports field than most local soccer clubs have and even a game hall with personal computers and game consoles. What more could a teen want? That jail is literally: To kill for.

Council to offer £50,000 deposits for Right to Buy

Council to offer £50,000 deposits for Right to Buy

A London council wants to reform Margaret Thatcher's "right to buy scheme" by giving tenants 50.000 pounds to buy their own homes in London. This way more people can buy their council homes. Mark Tomas, Wandsworth's Labour housing spokesman said he welcomes all initiatives but they should not lead to long term reduction in council.  Developers already have two million pounds secured for this project, but a London council spokesman said that it would only help about 1000 people, and that it's: "Just a drop in the ocean"

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23962577-council-to-offer-pound-50000-deposits-for-right-to-buy.do

Own homes

I Think it's a good initiative since it's great to have your own home. You can save much more, and really built something for your family if it's your own. I hope more money will become available for first time buyers, so I will soon own a nice little house in the amazing city of London. I do think the plan needs to be revised and executed with great precaution, because I wouldn't want to see these new house owners end up with great depths that only worsen their position in the market.

Smoke alarm removed from home because it 'woke up pet cat'

Smoke alarm removed from home because it 'woke up pet cat'

If you read the title of this summary one might think: "that person is crazy". However, that person is not the only one with an odd excuse, for being one out of four not having a fire alarm installed in their house. Reasons mentioned were: "‘I don’t want a smoke alarm unless you’ve got one in pine to match the ceiling
" and someone said "to stop the smoke getting to it" after he was asked why his alarm was hidden in a cupboard. These stories show that people don't see the importance of a decent smoke alarm in a decent place to protect their house, and also don't know where to place it. "There should be an alarm on the ceiling of every floor." Sir Ken Knight whp is the government’s chief fire and rescue adviser, said.

Just don't buy one

If you're going to keep it in a cupboard, or will only activate and take it with you if you're going outside for a smoke. I think you'll notice when your fag has lit. I think fire alarms are essential elements in a home, especially if you have kids. A person, when a house owner, is responsible for the safety in that house. A fire alarm can save your life, your children's lives and your neighbours as well, if they live under the same roof. I do understand that some people procrastinate purchasing one, but reasons like I just read for not having one or misusing one are just too ridiculous.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/jun/20/student-walkouts-public-sector-strikes

Massive strikes are to be held by school students, as well as college students and teachers on the 30th of June. This due to the massive announced cuts on the educational sector. If the cuts are made there will be massive job loss, pension reforms and pay freezes. Along with a deteriorating level of education the students will get. It is the Trade Unions who've come up with the idea to have massive walk-outs from schools, by school and college students, and staff to protest against the major cuts the education sector is soon to face.

Cuts on education, fail

I think cuts on education always fail. The students need good education, so they can occupy the jobs that co-run a country. If you start cutting on education, the level deteriorates and you'll face an economical fall-back later on. Education, in my opinion is something that should never be cut on. I also think it's a well organised strike, since so many people are expected to attend the massive strike. My only worries are vandalism, rage and other forms of heavy aggression, during these protest that have absolutely no use and will only weaken the impact of the protest.

Argentine leader says UK 'arrogant' over Falklands

Argentine leader says UK 'arrogant' over Falklands

The Falklands, located near the east coast of Argentina is still a colony of the United Kingdom. Most of the citizens, wouldn't want to see this any other way. They are happy to be British and even celebrate liberation day on the 14th of June in the capital city: Port Stanley. This, as a result of the Argentinian invasion of 1982. But although the people don't want to become a sovereignty, the president of Argentina, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner does. She even called Britain: "Arrogant" for not negotiating about the sovereignty of the Falklands.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13803111

Let them be British

I think the Falklands should remain under the British crown. They like it there, they've been their for a long time, and most importantly: They like it. So why would you change something that isn't wanted by the ones the change applies to. Yes, the Falklands actually geographically belong to Argentina but I think the urge about who has what part of the world is so 1900. Things are taken care of by Britain in the Falklands now, and they're doing just fine. I think the Argentinian government, and especially the president, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner shouldn't be so arrogant and greedy for land themselves.

Ban tourists from Trafalgar Square lions before they destroy them, report says

Ban tourists from Trafalgar Square lions before they destroy them, report says

Trafalgar Square's Lions have been suffering heavily. Due to constant weight, jumping, and climbing by tourists the 4 bronze statues at Trafalgar square have been heavily weakened and are said to collapse if nothing is done to avoid even further damage. The Lions each have their own points of weakness but all of them are suffering from rust. They have been researched with a small camera from the inside and some parts of the lion are 3 times as thin as they used to be. The discussion is now on about what to do, whether to insert a law prohibiting climbing the ancient statues or not. Replacing the statues would cost 180.000 pounds each.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/8584165/Ban-tourists-from-Trafalgar-Square-lions-before-they-destroy-them-report-says.html

Ban!

I think there should be a ban on climbing these monumental statues. Okay, yes, you MUST have climbed the lions and have a picture with you and your friends, sitting on the back of one of them if you've visited London. But we're talking ancient! I think these magnificent statues should be looked after very carefully, and a ban should be placed on climbing them. The statues are so old, and new ones just won't do. Especially since there's this legend which says that the Lions come to life when then Big Ben hits thirteen, and I don't think the new Lion(s) know they have to move when the Big ben Does!

Mobile phone kits to diagnose STDs

Mobile phone kits to diagnose STDs

Soon we'll all be able to test for STD's right after we've been naughty! Doctors are, in collaboration with technology experts, working on ways to test yourself on possible STD's. Ways to check for STD's  in which computers and even your hand-held mobile phones are used, are being considered. Doctors hope this will decrease the currently increasing number of teens having STD's. Experts say it's the perfect way to decrease this number since teens are often too embarrassed to visit a health expert, however, are very keen on using their mobile phones and computers.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/nov/05/new-test-mobile-phones-diagnose-stds

"I just had sex!" Lets test!

Personally, I think this is a great idea! For many people, the step to visit a doctor to test on STD's is quite big. Now, people: a) Don't need to visit, b) Don't have to show before they know, c) Can warn others, d) Are more likely to play safe and e) can act responsibly towards themselves and others much more earlier. Should I continue? I think this is a great step forward for technology and the battle against STD's that's obviously growing under today's youth. The downside is that I'd be less likely to borrow one's phone in the future.

A GIRL famously kidnapped as a baby from a maternity ward 21 years ago is to appear on Britain's Got Talent, The Sun can reveal.

A GIRL famously kidnapped as a baby from a maternity ward 21 years ago is to appear on Britain's Got Talent, The Sun can reveal.

She chose not to use her sob story to sway the jury and get them on her side. University student Alex Griffiths wants to become famous as a dancer and chose Britain’s Got Talent to do so, however, she refused to use her I-was-kidnapped-as-a-baby-story to gain sympathy from the judges. She wants: “to impress people for who I am and what I can do, not because I was kidnapped as a baby”. People told her that she should definitely use her story but she denied. She says that producers in the end understood her decision to stay quiet and she does certainly not regret it!

Class

Alex Griffiths certainly earned my sympathy, by not using her kidnap story to have advantage over others in the race to become Britain's next big talent. As the article said, a lot of people use these stories to become one of the favourites in contests, such as BGT. Even if they have barely anything to do with the act, or haven't really had any influence on becoming good, at the thing someone is doing. This girl doesn't even remember she was kidnapped because she was a baby so it wouldn't make sense to me at all, if she used her sob story as a boarding pass to a next round of BGT.

Kenneth Clarke: prison is a waste of money

Kenneth Clarke: prison is a waste of money

Justice Secretary Ken Clarke says the current prison system is financially unsustainable. Prisons are overcrowded and tax payers carry the growing financial burden while, according to Clarke, there are ways to reduce this burden and use prison life more usefully.
However, media, lobby groups and therefore many people argue that Clark is ”soft on crime”. He himself talked to the Guardian to deny this accusation and says that everyone who thinks prison life is easy, should visit a prison soon.

He is currently preparing a bill for a proposal of: a large sentence discount, diverting the mentally ill from jail, prisons with a working environment, operation of firms inside of prison to learn the inmates skills they can use in society when they get out and finally, make community punishments tougher by making offenders do structured unpaid work for eight hours a day.

Make profit in prison in order to help sustain it

I think it’s a bad thing to have too many people in one place, especially if they have nothing on their hands. If you lock everyone up for the slightest crimes, you’ll have what now happened in the UK: Overcrowded prisons.

I don’t think life in prison is easy, especially if a prison is overcrowded, people will only grow hate and get toughed up. I think Ken Clarke’s plans are good, why not make inmates work in jail and prepare them for their return to society by learning them skills and earn proof of good behaviour and a healthy work ethic.

Jelly bean resembling Kate Middleton to fetch £500

A jelly bean resembling Kate Middleton's face is set to fetch £500 at auction

Wesley Hoise and his girlfriend Jessica White say to have found a yellow and red jelly bean in a 700-year-old jar, which resembles the face of Prince William’s bride Kae Middleton. They now want to make some money from the bean by selling it on eBay for £500. The chance that some collector, they hope, is buying, is present since the wedding is coming up in a few weeks.

Richard Cullen, Joint Managing Director for The Jelly Bean Factory says he still has to see it in order to believe it and says it’s possible because each and every jelly bean is unique because they’re handmade.

Link to original article: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/royal-wedding/kate-middleton/8450314/Jelly-bean-resembling-Kate-Middleton-to-fetch-500.html

It took some time but I see it now!

Regardless of if the bean looks like kate or not, it is a nice item to have if you're a true fan collector of everything that has to do with the royal wedding coming up, and of course a nice bonus for the couple selling the bean on eBay.
I myself, at first just didn't see the comparison between the bean and the bride. However, later on when I really woke up, it all became visible to me and felt like a revelation.

Though, I do think that the bean looks like many girls and women, including friends of mine and therefore, is not that special. Also, I wonder why the picture they chose for the comparison is so NOT flattering for Kate Middleton, how hard is it to google for a nice picture of hers?

Hundreds attend kiss-in outside John Snow pub after venue closes its doors

Hundreds attend kiss-in outside John Snow pub after venue closes its doors

Soho pub, John Snow which recently ejected a gay couple for what they said to be “obscene” kissing got surprised by a counteraction. Hundreds of protest kissers made the pub close its doors after they started a “gay kiss-in”, leaving lots of people locked outside, still with their drinks in their hands.

Subsequent to the kick-out Jonathan Williams and his date tweeted about the incident which caused the attention of national media and eventually plans for the “gay kiss-in” arose. Along with the kissing, rainbow flags were attached to the door frames and others pasted flyers with naked men to the windows.

Gay kiss-in? just ring me!

I have seen straight people do more than make out in clubs, and what happened? Staff made photo's while other club goers were sitting next to the love-making-couples "I have pics, it did happen". And since I'm against discrimination, I think the staff had no right to eject this future couple in love! Besides that, it's the 21st century and there's no space for any homophobia in the world.

This protest was a good counteraction in my opinion and I wish I could've been there. Maybe it's time to become more active on twitter! Anyhow, whenever you need to protest against something, and kissing is involved, just ring me!

Private schools line up to become free (Tuesday April 12, 2011)

Private schools line up to become free (Tuesday April 12, 2011)

The government decided to subsidise private schools to become free schools, this way everyone has a chance to benefit from the variety of education systems around the country.

However, while this happens, state school budgets get slashed and staff is made redundant. The question arising at state schools is: Where does the Department of Education get the audacity to give more money to the rich and leave the poor torn.

David Mann in his defence states that state schools are not really that good and that more private schools will raise the bar to a higher level. The point according to the spokesman of the Department of Education is: “The test for a free school is not just if the school gets good results. You need to look at what happens to the ring of schools around it. ”

Link to original article: http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/2011/apr/12/private-schools-conversion

Free? OK! At the expense of school state going children? NO!

I personally think it’s a good idea to subsidise new ways of education, especially if this makes it possible for both the rich and the poor to attend special education. However, if this means that state schools have to suffer and therefore, the children still at those state schools, then I think it’s a bad plan. However, if the plans are slightly revised, which means that state schools also get the necessary funds to renew their methods, repair their equipment and fix their buildings, then it sounds a lot better to me. It would be fair if a balance is found between the financial help between each type of school.
